What is a "Green Music CD"?

It's our name for an environmentally-friendly way to cut your printing costs and get greater exposure for your catalogs or any promotional item at the time of state or national music conventions when teachers are making plans and purchases for their program.

The CD puts your Music Business or Music School information (in PDF form) in the hands of interested music teachers at the time of their conventions, when they are most motivated!

The CD is actually a "CD-ROM" (or Data CD) that contains digital files of your promotional materials -- PDFs or Software Demos.  Your PDFs appear along with other strong music education organizations.  Audio files are not generally included here as they are large files (10MB or more.)  However, if interested, please ask if we have room to include your audio/performance music file.   Great for publishers' new works, children's song files, etc.


Are these CDs affiliated directly with the music conventions?

No, our GREEN MUSIC CD program is a digital marketing service developed separately by All Things Musical working with music businesses and schools like yours.  We are not connected to any music convention organization.  We are often exhibitors at the events ourselves.  Our goal is to improve your music business and offer economical ways to reach the music educators you desire.

What can I include on the CD-ROM?

Your music catalog, brochure, calendar, flier, special offers, admission forms, order form, price lists -- literally any printed document that you or your graphic artist have created and saved as a file.  That file can be saved in a universal format readable on any computer (Mac or PC) called a PDF file - Portable Document Format. 

Your PDFs on the CD can be shared easily between music teachers.  They also link the music teacher directly to your website where they get more information, can purchase or request more info from you.

If you offer Music Software, we can accept your "Software Demo" file.  Must be a self-contained file and run on standard Windows or Mac operating systems without needing special applications.


How do I create my PDF for the CD?

In most cases, you can save your original file as a PDF within the application that created it.   In other cases, use your printer options by selecting "Print to PDF" and save your document as a PDF.   Just look in your print menu for PDF options.  

Free or inexpensive program -- If you don't have a way to create a PDF from your document, Adobe's website lets you upload your brochure or catalog file and turn it into a PDF online.  You'll save the PDF to your computer.  Select "Get a Trial Subscription" from Adobe Acrobat at:



Can you create a PDF from my website?

Yes.  We can create PDFs for 90% of websites.  It's a PDF of your website homepage with complete links to all of your other pages.  Ask that we check this out for you at no charge. 

If you want the PDF included on our GREEN CD, there is a small fee to adjust your PDF for best viewing and use on the CD.  If interested, just ask!


Are you creating different GREEN MUSIC CDs for different music states/events?

Yes, this is the most valuable part of our program!  You can select 1, 2 or all 3 of our Annual GREEN MUSIC RESOURCE CDS  -  Winter or Spring/Summer or Fall CDs.

Each "season" covers 3-4 of the nation's top music conventions/events.

You decide when you want your PDF(s) to be included on any GREEN CD program.   We compile and replicate the CDs and see that all are fully distributed to those music directors or educators.


How will my PDF catalog be distributed and promoted?

Your PDF Catalog file will be placed on our GREEN MUSIC CDs you select.  For example:  if you want your Catalog distributed to Texas Music Educators, select WINTER CD that includes TEXAS, when you order, and your PDF(s) will be included on that CD.

All Things Musical will distribute the Green Music CDs from their booth at the selected conventions.  Green CD are also mailed coinciding exactly with the timing of the states' conventions.  This is when educators are in the best "purchasing/planning" mode.

The CD replaces the need to print extra copies of your catalogs, brochures, etc.  You save money and help the environment at the same time!


How much does it cost?

$100 per MB space used by your file(s) including partial MBs.   Minimum order - $100.  Most fliers and small brochures are easily under 1 MB size. 

That's just $100 for distribution on 15,000 CDs!

For example:  if the files you want included total 1.4 MB, you would pay the 2 MB rate or $200.  A minimum order is 1 MB or $100, even if your files do not total 1 MB.   Example:  your PDF is 844 KB (less than 1 MB size) fee is $100.  

I encourage you to reduce your PDF file sizes as much as possible.   Since all files are viewed on a computer screen or mobile phone, the clarity or resolution will still be excellent.   If you can't reduce your PDF file size yourself, I'll try to "optimize" it for you at no charge - please ask.   Adobe Acrobat software lets you reduce the file.


Is there a Discount if my File(s) are really large?   5 MB or more

Yes.  If your file or files total 5 MB or more, we offer a Special "LARGE FILE" Discount Rate.

Is there a Discount if I join multiple "GREEN MUSIC CD" programs during the year?

Yes.  If you commit to the next 3 consecutive GREEN MUSIC CD programs (a year), you can receive a substantial discount.  Instead of $100 per MB for 1 program, your rate is now $250 per MB for all 3 programs (or 45,000 CD.)


Can my same PDF or Software Demo appear on more than one GREEN MUSIC CD?

Yes, definitely.  This is a great benefit of our GREEN MUSIC CD digital marketing program.  Once your PDF or other Digital Files are ready to be distributed, you can join as many "Green CDs" as you wish for "extended distribution."  Place your PDF Catalog on all 3 "Green CDs" for the year.  You can even change your file for each CD program.


How much space can I use on the CD disk?

Each "Green Music CD" is limited by the storage space on a standard CD-ROM.  Orders are taken on a first come, first served basis.   You can reserve as much space as your files need as long as space is available.   We urge you to reserve space quickly as our Resource CDs are very popular and fill up quickly.  

Minimum order:  up to 1 MB size/$100 fee    1000 KB = 1 MB    File size is in your document description

   Example 1:  your PDF file is 844 KB (less than 1 MB) - fee $100
   Example 2:  you have 2 PDF files (brochure and order form) that total 1 MB - fee $100
   Example 3:  you have one large catalog file that is 5 MB - fee is $100 x 5 or $500
   Example 4:  you submit 2 files totaling 2.7 MB - fee is $100 x 3 or $300

How many files will appear on the CD?

50+ files, on average, appear on each GREEN CD program.  Teachers immediately scan the names of all PDFs or Music Software Demo files.  Your file will definitely be noticed and read!

Do you realize 50 catalogs on just 2000 CDs distributed to Music Educators saves the printing of 100,000 CATALOGS.  Wow!

How will my PDF appear on the CD?

To keep things simple, your PDF file will be placed in alphabetical order on the main menu of the CD by your company name.  Example:  YourCompanyName.pdf     If you submit more than one file, a Catalog file and an Order form file for example, we'll name them as follows so that they appear right next to each other:

     YourCompanyName.pdf
     YourCompanyName-orderform.pdf

If you want your PDF named something other than company name, let me know when you receive the EMAIL CONFIRMATION.


Does the CD contain a "Contents" Listing?

Yes.  As a quick-start guide, we create a CONTENTS/REQUEST FORM PDF file that appears at the top of the ALPHA LISTING for all files.  It serves a double function. 

1) it lists all PDF files on the CD including your PDF with your company name, website address (as a live link), and your music category. 

2) It's also a REQUEST FORM that can be filled out and returned by mail or faxed to All Things Musical for music teachers to request more info from you.  You'll be forwarded any "leads" from these returned forms.


Any disadvantages to promoting my PDF files on a CD?

It's not a disadvantage as much as the visibility of your promotional materials in a digital format.   With your file on the CD, the CD must be opened to "see" your files. 

As teachers become more accustomed to "Green Resource CDs", the power and usefulness of this program will only grow!

A "CD" has greater perceived value and will be kept and used.  When you hand teachers a printed brochure, it's an instant connection.  But can also be instantly tossed and never read or used.  

Resource CDs, like ours, are often referred to for years and often placed in Central Music Department libraries for continual reference by multiple music teachers.


Can I place my PDF on the CD even if I'm not an exhibitor at a convention?

Yes, you may join any GREEN MUSIC CD as an ADVERTISER.  Much like convention programs that allow advertising from companies not at the event, we can include your PDF or Software Demo file even if you don't attend or exhibit.

As an Advertiser, you can request a quantity for your own distribution.  Make this request for extra CDs when your order is confirmed so that we can figure your quantity into the total to be replicated.

A few basic tips are:

   1.  Make sure your PDF fits and reads well in standard 8.5 x 11 format, as most teachers will view
        or print it out on letter size paper.

   2.  Make sure all mentions of your WEBSITE ADDRESS and EMAIL ADDRESS (opt) are "live links."   
        If you don't know how to do this, ask that I do this for you - no charge.

   3.  If you have Acrobat software, reduce the size of your file before submitting.
